Description: Ventrilo is an evolutionary Voice over IP (VoIP) group communications software using "a method for taking analog audio signals like the kind you hear when you talk on the phone, and turning them into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet". Ventrilo enables users access to voice communications on their computer in real time, as if they were talking on a telephone. Ventrilo primarily uses only two essential components to function. This is the Client and the Server.

Ventrilo Client

"The Ventrilo Client is the actual software users install on their computers. The program allows them to connect to, and communicate with other Ventrilo users. In order for users to be able to communicate, however, they must first be connected to a server."
Ventrilo Server"The Ventrilo Server is a dedicated computer running the Ventrilo server software, which allows multiple users to connect and communicate with each other. By connecting to a server a user is able to communicate with all other users currently connected to that server. This is where comes in: We provide customers with the highest quality servers available to ensure seamless voice communication and unsurpassed audio clarity."

Applications: Ventrilo is used as a means of communicating with others through VoIP technology as a preferable alternative to using a telephone, or using text-based chat in situations in which the keyboard is being otherwise utilized. This is useful in situations where people wouldn’t be willing to pay for long distance/international calling, or just as a convenience when both parties are already using their computers.
Gamers especially prefer this software because of its ease-of-use and low CPU cycle consumption. The software is easily accessed while the keyboard is already in use during intense gaming.
